Felipe Cabrera
An essential double bassist of the Afro-Cuban jazz scene, he has performed in the biggest festivals and jazz clubs on the planet, including fourteen years spent with Gonzalo Rubalcaba and sharing the stage with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Omara Portuondo, Anga Dias, Harold Lopes Nusa, Tata Guines or Roberto Fonseca!
An excellent performer but also a talented composer, Felipe Cabrera has recorded three albums under his name, including " Made in Animas Which received the Best Latin Jazz Album award.
From duo to quintet, he defends his multiple projects on stage. In " Night poems », His last album released in 2015 (Socadisc / Absilone), he signs eleven compositions for double bass and piano recorded with the help of Brazilian pianist Leonardo Montana.
One of these recent projects, "Cuban Descargas", plunges us into the rich musical atmosphere of the 1940s-60s, when American jazz and Cuban music met.
