Karla Da Silva
Karla is part of a new generation of singers and songwriters from the working-class neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro. Having grown up in Madureira, one of the birthplaces of Rio samba, Karla da Silva honed her voice during the bohemian nights of Rio's famous Lapa district. Her voice stands out for its power, charged with emotion and the history of the Brazilian people.
In her “rodas de samba,” she captivates audiences, performing her own compositions and revisiting the great classics of samba.
In her new album “Sotak,” released in October 2024, Karla Da Silva explores samba in all its forms and “accents”: from the roots of the style, such as Samba de Roda, to Samba Reggae, blending traditions with contemporary influences, such as guitars and candomblé drums. This album celebrates samba as a language that enriches everyday life.

New album "BATUK" and tour in 2026-27
“BATUK” is Karla da Silva's new project, a journey into the ancestral power of Afro-Brazilian voices and drums. Inspired by “Samba de Roda,” “Samba Chula,” “Samba de terreiro,” and Caboclo songs, these are the roots and precursors of Samba as we know it today. The concert builds a bridge between Brazil and the traditions of the African diaspora in Brazil, revealing the lively rhythm that animates body and soul.
On stage, Karla and her group take the audience on an intense and spiritual journey, where the traditions and songs of black slaves from the 16th century onwards are reflected in the rhythm, poetry, and celebration of a vibrant circle of voices, drums, and dances.
It is an invitation to the audience to immerse themselves in the roots of Afro-Brazilian culture, in a vibrant, sensory, and universal show.
