Maria Gad ú

Born in December 1986 in São Paulo, Maria Gadú is a Brazilian singer and guitarist. After learning the basics of music theory, she began to record her first songs on cassettes. Her real musical training began when, at age 13, she performed in bars in her hometown. She then performed songs by Marisa Monte, Adoniran Barbosa, or even Chico Buarque. At twenty, the young artist took her first steps on national television and signed a contract with the recording of a first album. Maria Gadú's eponymous record was released in 2009 in Brazil. He earned two Latin Grammy Award nominations. Above all, the single Shimbalaie allows him to experience dazzling success in Italy where he won the hit title of summer 2011, remaining stuck at the top of sales for five weeks. His latest album "Guela" (2015) was nominated for the Latin Grammy Awards in the category "Best Brazilian Pop Album".
